Michael and the team at Iron Standard are honored and grateful to be a trusted physical therapy clinic serving the greater Birmingham area.
Why Physical Therapy?
“Like many others, I love sports, especially football. In high school, I began to experience severe lower back pain. Turns out, I had stress fractures in my lumbar spine, disc herniations, and arthritic degeneration – the whole nine yards. I never thought I’d play football again.
Then I met a physical therapist in Tuscaloosa who explained the physiology behind my injuries, and how evidence-based research revealed that I needn’t be defined by those medical diagnoses. I went through about 6 weeks of physical therapy, which eliminated my low back pain. I went on to play football at Birmingham-Southern College and loved every minute of it.
The experience had such a huge impact on my life and guided my career decision. I wanted to help people with similar problems because I knew how much it meant to me in my own life.”
Mitchell Morris is a board-certified orthopedic clinical specialist and is currently working toward completing a certification in the treatment of fitness athletes.
Mitchell grew up in Trussville, Alabama, where he played 2 years of baseball in junior college before moving on to complete his undergraduate studies at Auburn University with a major in exercise science. After graduating, Mitchell continued his education by enrolling and completing the doctor of physical therapy program at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Mitchell continues to gain experience in the field by working in outpatient orthopedic settings as a graduate of an orthopedic residency program.
Throughout his education and training, Mitchell has developed a deep passion for helping patients increase their overall health and wellness. He has been involved in the CrossFit community for a decade and has an aptitude for understanding the abilities of different body types.
When he’s not studying, you can either find him in the gym, at a sporting event, or relaxing at home with his girlfriend and their dogs.
Why Physical Therapy?
“I always played sports growing up. Physical therapy allows me to maintain my connection to the sports I love, while helping others improve their mobility, strength, health, and wellness through strength and conditioning exercises. Physical therapy can help people at all stages of their lives, especially older adults. PT has the power to improve the very quality of your life.”
Taylor Baumann is from the great state of Georgia, just north of Atlanta. He decided to take his budding talents west to the University of Alabama, where he majored in exercise and sports science, with a minor in psychology. Taylor then attended the University of Alabama at Birmingham where he focused on obtaining his doctorate in physical therapy, and ultimately realized how much he loved caring for and connecting with those who need physical rehab help.
Taylor strives to be a leader in the field of physical therapy. He continues to seek advanced knowledge that helps him serve his patients better, including certification in functional dry needling. His CrossFit and function fitness experience allows him to understand what drives his athlete patients. Taylor is excited and motivated every day to work with the Iron Standard team to bring exceptional physical therapy rehabilitation services to residents of Birmingham and the surrounding communities.
When not working, Taylor enjoys anything that pushes him to be his best self every day. He’s an avid outdoorsman who loves to canoe, kayak, fish, backpack, golf, and anything else that keeps him moving around.
Why Physical Therapy?
“A meniscus tear I suffered in high school never fully healed, even after two surgeries. Mostly, this was because I did not commit to my strength and conditioning rehab regimen – but also because coaches at the time weren’t properly trained in injury prevention. I’ve come to realize that commitment and motivation are critical if you want to avoid a lifetime of impairment. My experience is what made me want to have an impact on others and help them achieve successful physical rehabilitation.”
Danny Price grew up in northern Georgia, later moving to Birmingham, Alabama, where he attended Samford University for his undergraduate degree. He went on the University of Alabama at Birmingham to complete its esteemed doctor of physical therapy program.
Danny continues to expand his knowledge and experience through his work in outpatient orthopedic physical therapy settings. He obtained his certification as an SFMA Level 1 practitioner on top of his advanced certification in functional dry needling, so that he can offer even more PT services to his patients.
Danny’s favorite clients to work with are baseball players and weekend warrior athletes. In his spare time, he enjoys working out at the local Fit Facility gym and spending quality time with his wife and dog.
Why Physical Therapy?
“I played baseball my entire life and still love the sport, and others. I enjoy working with athletes and nonathletes alike. My personal goal is to use my career in physical therapy to help my patients return to and excel at the activities they love – as well as to enrich their lives by making an impact on them mentally, emotionally, and spiritually.”
